Movie Reviews

Eagle Eye
This film indicates the beauty of technology which can retrace, trace and untrace situations of life. It shows the enormous possibilities about technology, such as the ability to remotely control any networked device (e.g., traffic lights, cell phones, automated cranes, and even electrical wire). People has the tendency to improperly use technology, as technology advances we still must be able to undermine the values of lives and the values of innocent people who would be affected on such negligence.

I-Robot
The plot of the movie is very intriguing. I was astonished by the unexpected scenarios and I salute the men behind this film because of their vision of the future. I have never imagined a software or a program evolving by its own into something human-like, until I saw this movie. It encouraged me to widen more my imagination.

Pirates of Silicon Valley
"Success is a menace. It fools smart people into thinking that they can't lose." - Bill Gates
As an IT student this is very helpful in my endeavor. This film shows the struggle, the wit and how cunning the IT billionaires - Bill Gates and Steven Jobs - of today are.

Surrogates
A story that envisions a technology dependent society. This film seems to show people's weaknesses, being afraid that something might happen to them so they rely their selves through a surrogate. Moreover, this kind of film will create threat if people will entrust their own selves to surrogates. The movie is like trying to say that people must not permit technology to experiment human’s body. This film informs human being that technology is not giving you life of contentment. It is just an aide for you to make things easier but not to the fact that you might want something greater from it such that passion of ruling or changing the face of the world. It appears to be a powerful imagination but the thing is, it is true, it is currently happening so the possibility of it won't be hardly an imagine only.

Wall-E
The story was touching but it is quite predictable especially towards the end. I also find it odd that the main robot characters lacked the ability for speech communication and all they can do is beep and make emotional expressions. However the animation that this movie have is obviously intricately made because the details were great. The light effects used to make the animation close to reality was superbly done, especially in those scenes where WALL-E was roaming the earth.

Why do we need to study technology?

Technology is a course of action wherein people alters or transforms nature to meet their needs and wants. Rooting on its definition, I can infer that we need to study technology for us to enhance the efficiency of getting or meeting our daily demands. Delving deeper on technology will let us understand it wider than we currently do. After understanding technology, we can be able to visualize our other needs and wants that we would like to put an easier solution – or more appropriate to say – technological solution. I have also observed that as technology keeps on improving, people also tend to further build-up their needs and wants, therefore studying and improving technology will not end unless people will be satisfied with its existing technology.
